Rendovious Snellville, the Defense Against The Dark Arts teacher, had a cabinent in front of the chalkboard. It was shaking, like there was something in it. Karen sat down in the middle of the classroom, she's usually first, because DADA is her favorite class.

"Good Morning Class!! How is everyone today?" Professor Snellville asked.

Of course Karen was the only one in the room so she replied "Good Professor, and yourself?"

"I am very well, Karen, thanks for asking."

She smiled, looked around the classroom, This is going to be a tough year. My last year, here at Hogwarts.

"Today class, we shall be learning about advanced boogart training. The spell 'riddikulus' In this cabinent, is a boggart. Can anyone tell me what a boggart it?

Karen knew the answer but she wantedc someone else to answer. She didn't want to seem like a know it all.

Lily Evans walked into the classroom just as the professor began talking. She smiled at Karen and took a seat at the table behind her. As she heard the professor's question she raised her hand into the air.

"Yes Miss Evans?"

"Boggarts are creatures that lurk in cabinets and other nooks in magical buildings and shift into terrifying forms to scare humans into leaving them alone." She smiled at the professor.

"Excellent Evans. Now let us wait a few minutes for the other students to arrive. Please open your Advanced Defense Against the Dark Arts text book to page 34 and begin reviewing the chapter on Boggarts."

Lily pulled her book out of her bag and opened it to the proper page. She leaned forward in her chair, across the desk and poked Karen in the back gently. "This should be an interesting unit, but I am a bit nervous about it. All of us seeing our worst fears, it's a bit scary." She looked at her friend, a bit of a frown on her red lips. "I just hope I can ger the riddikulus spell to work before I get too upset."

Karen also took out her book and turned to page 34. Feeling a poke in her back, she turned around.

This should be an interesting unit, but I am a bit nervous about it. All of us seeing our worst fears, it's a bit scary." She looked at her friend, a bit of a frown on her red lips. "I just hope I can ger the riddikulus spell to work before I get too upset."

"Yes! I know, I'm pretty sure that my boggart is going to be some sort of spider! I HATE spiders with a passion. And if I don't get the spell right, I WILL faint!" She frowned. "What do you think that your boggart will be?" Karen asked.

Hopefully more students will come in so she could hurry up and get this spell down.

Lily listened to Karen. "Yes, I hate spiders as well but they are eaily dealt with, with a flick of a wand. My boggart is my family, seeing them.....well let's just hope I don't have to experience any of it." Lily sighed. She knew they had to learn about boggarts and had to learn to deal with them affectivly, but she was not too happy about the consequences that came with it.

"Yes, I hope the others get here soon so we can get this over with and move on to the next unit."

She saw the professor looking at the two of them talking and she quickly fixed her gaze on the pages of the book, reading a bit more into the chapter. When she saw him turn arounf again she looked back over towards Karen, this time whispering, "so, do you think the others will feel the same way we do? Or are we just over-reacting?"

"Good morning Professor, Lily, Karen." He smiled as he walked into the classroom, taking his usual seat near the back of the class so he could sit with the Marauders. "I hope you are all doing well today. I'm mush looking for..ward to...to..day's..less..on." He stammered as he read the board. Boggarts. A look of dread quickly spread his features as he plopped down into his seat and stared at the board with disbeliefe. He had gone this long at Hogwarts without having to deal with Boggarts why did they have to now? He heaved a heavy sigh and placed his forehead in his palm. This could be bad if anyone really caught on to what his Boggart was. Maybe a diversion? He sat up and leaned back in his seat. He may be the one who never got caught staging a prank or something, but that certainly didn't mean he never had his hand in a few rather good ones over the years. He had a decision to make and he had to make it quickly. If someone saw his Boggart (surely the moon) then they could think on of two things. Case A: He had an odd fear of crystal balls or Case B: he was a werewolf. He just hoped no one would assume the latter.

Lily noticed Remus Lupin walk into the classroom and she smiled at him. Out of the four Marauders, as they liked to call themselves, he was definitely the most tollerable of the three. He actually tried to prevent James and Sirius from doing some of their more crazy stunts.

"Good morning Remus." She replied to him and then she listened as he continued talking as he read the board. She studied him a moment, he was actually stuttering as he was talking. No doubt that he was just as neverous about the boggarts as they all were, but his seemed to be more like a fear, then a nervousness. She saw him sit in his chair and stare blankly ahead, staring at the words on the board.

Realizing something was definitely wrong, Lily got up from her seat and walked to the back of the room where Remus was sitting. She took the seat next to him and looked up at him with a warm expression and spoke calmly. "Remus, are you alright? You don't look to good." She studied him for a moment, trying to read his thoughts in his eyes but all she saw was what appeared to be fear or nervousness. She took a deep breath and leaned over closer to him. "Is it the boggarts? Or is something else bothering you?"

"Well....Spiders...are my phobia, when I see one....I freeze. I mean even if a little, teeny, tiny one. They...make me want to scream!!" She laughed. Karen turned to her book and so did Lily when they both seen Snellville look their way. When he looked away, Karen turned back to Lily. I'm not sure. Some might over-react like us...but others may be like oh yeah boggarts! Woohoo!!" She laughed.

Karen saw the hottie Remus Lupin had walked in. He looked at the board and ALL the blood drained from his face. Karen nudged Lily and pointed to Remus. "Hey....you ok? Come sit with us till your posse gets here." Karen called to Remus.

He looked in a daze as he stared at the board, trying to figure out what to do. He almost didn't hear Karen and Lily's voices, but he shook his head a bit and was surprised when he looked over and Lily was sitting there. "F-fine really."He replied, rubbing his eyes. "Just tired I guess." Remus Lupin was a terrible liar. He offered a small smile, but then bit his lip, turning to the page on Boggarts in his DADA book.

"It's fascinating really." He commented. My, that was the best subject change he ever heard...not really. He sighed, thinking of the lesson fast approaching. "I guess I'm just a little nervous to see what my Boggart will be. I really don't know." He lied again, but it was a bit better executed this time.

He closed his book with a thud and looked over at Lily, offering a half-hearted smile. "What d'you think your Boggart will be, Lily?" He had missed that part of the conversation and was very eager to steer it away from his own person.

Emmeline sat down next to Karen.
"I hate boggarts," Emma said. "I hate spiders! Why couldn't I be afraid of ladybugs. Yep, ladybugs are cool, but NO I have to be terrified of a creepy, crawly, eight-legged, bug!"

While she moaned and groaned, she watched as Karen smiled and nodded in agreement. Emmeline looked around the room. She was always well aware of her surroundings for no particular reason than pure curiousity.

The room was dark and dreary, students wandered around the room... meangling. She looked over at Lupin, who wore a worried expression.

"I wonder why Remus is so sad?" she asked Karen.

Emmeline waved to Lily. Emma always thought of Lily as elegant and poised. She was sweet and very intelligent.

"What are you afraid of," Emma asked the day-dreaming Karen.

Lily listened to Remus say he was fine, but the look on his face and his stuttering words told her otherwise. She studied him for a few moments. "Fascinating? Boggarts? Yes I suppose they are in a way. Though any creature that makes you live out your worst nightmares is nothing short of evil in my opinion." She sighed. She was looking about as forward to this class as she was getting taunted by the Slytherins because of her blood status.

"My boggart? I imagine it's going to be seeing something happen to my family. Seeing them in mortal peril. I am quite close to my parents. My sister on the other hand, well she pretty much hates me." She sighed and watched as he slammed his book shut. This lesson about to start was definitely bothering him more than he was letting on. She faced him, looking deeply into his eyes. "Remus, what's wrong? Is it what your boggart is?"

Lily then spotted Emmeline vance walk into the classroom. She smiled at her warmly. "Good morning Emmeline, how are you today>" She kept her gaze at Emmeline for a few moments and then focused her full attention back on one Remus Lupin.

Something told Karen that he wasn't telling the whole truth. It was a gut feeling. "Well...If your sure your ok....I think that everyone is nervous to see what their boggarts will be. I already know mine...." She cringed. "A spider!" She bit her lip, could she tell him that she sort of had feelings for him? What if he's not what she thought he was...."Remus...How does one like yourself dont't have that sombody....last I heard...you were single." She touched his arm. Maybe he could get the picture.

Emmeline came into the room. "I hate boggarts," Emma said. "I hate spiders! Why couldn't I be afraid of ladybugs. Yep, ladybugs are cool, but NO I have to be terrified of a creepy, crawly, eight-legged, bug!"

Karen nodded in agreement. "I know how you feel Em. Freaky little bug...I wished they'd all DIE!" She laughed..couldn't help it. "I wonder why Remus is so sad?" she asked Karen. "He's not that sad. He's just nervous to see what his boggarts' going to be."

Lily sat there, not speaking. Hmmm...wonder whats she's thinking about...James Potter, perhaps? "LILY!!! Knock-knock-knock....Is anyone home?!"

"Everything has a dark side to it, it's just more prominent in some things than in others." He traced the spine of his book, looking over at Lily. "Many things in this world are considered evil, but that doesn't mean that they are." He said wisely, tugging at the knot in his tie. If only she could fathom the true meaning of what he had just said. She'd know about him one day, but today certainly wasn't the time for her to know...he hoped.

"Er, maybe." He pretended to be very interested in the patch on his robes when she asked if he was nervous about what his Boggart would be. "I really don't know to tell you the truth." He gae an odd sort of smile and then looked to Karen, quirking a brow.

"Yes, I am single, but I, er...." Bloody hell where was Sirius when he needed him?

Speak of the devil! Sirius Black himself chose that moment to come padding into the DADA classroom, a licorice wand between his teeth. He had been on Rem's heels on the way down, but, well, everyone knew how Sirius was. He happened to wander into a room filled with tasty treats, said wand being onf of them. He looked up at the board and frowned. This wasn't going to please Remus in the slightest. Maybe he could get him out of it somehow, but at that moment he smiled, hearing Remus' voice.

"Yes, I am single, but I, er...."

He turned to see Karen Rosmerta, her hand on Remus' arm and a rather suggestive smile on her pretty lips. She was a hot piece of work, but he certainly couldn't abide her being like that with his Remus. Oooh, here came jeaouls Sirius. He took in a breath and walked over next to Remus, leaning down on the worktable with a forced smirk. "Hey, Moons." He looked acorss the table at Karen and oh if looks could kill. "'lo Karen." Grin getting a little more...mad looking. "What are you lot up to?"

"Yes, I suppose everything does have a dark side." She took a deep breath. "I just wish we didn't have to deal with any of it. I know it's all part of the class and we need to learn how to handle them as we venture out beyond our years here, I just wish that certain things like that didn't exist." She attempted to clear her head of the vision that she knew she would be seeing before her when the nasty little boggart was released from it's containment.

She eyed Karen as she made her bold move with Remus and she cracked a smile at her friend. This was Karen at her finest, always flirting with someone. She turned her focus towards Remus and watched him intently to see how he answered her question. Luckily for him Sirius had picked that very moment to enter the room. "Yes, I am single, but I, er...."

Lily watched as Sirius said hello to Remus and Karen and never said a word to her. This was something she was used to. She decided to take it upon herself to speak to him. She was in a rather good mood that day though she was still not exactly sure why. "Hello Black." She spoke to him in her usual tone. She figured she should get up pretty soon and get back to her regular table where she sat with James but she was still quite worried about Remus.

Emmeline got up from her seat and walked over near the back of the room where Lily, Karen, Remus, and know Sirius were standing.

"Good morning Emmeline, how are you today>" Lilly asked.

"I am fine," Emma answered as she smiled and looked at the group with curiosity. There was an awkard silence and everyone was looking at Lupin.

"So, is everyone dreading this as much as I am?" she asked.

She knew one of her greatest fears included spiders, but she was not sure what she was scared of most.... The creepy, crawly bugs or death of yet another person close to her. All she had in this wrld were her friends and her older sister, other than that she was alone. She had been introduced to such heartace so soon in life, she had always promised herself not to lose anyone else. (not that she could controll this) she tried to find something to destract herself from these horrible thoughts.

She glanced over at Sirius, who had a wild look in his eyes. Sirius always struck Emmeline as very interesting. He was breathtaking in looks, but his attitude had never allowed them to get close. It didn't mean that she never wanted to get to know him better, only that she hadn't had the chance to...yet.

"Sirius," Emmeline said slyly. "Do you have a devine plot planned to get us from this horrible assignment?"

"Oh...That's nice....but?" She said as Sirius walked into the room, giving her rather horrible looks. "Hello Black, Whats with the mean face? Did I do something to you?" She was weirded out, she didn't understand why he was doing this. Sirius and Karen have always joked around, but he looked like he was going to kill her. Did I do something to offend him? Turning to Sirius, "Look man, If I did something to you....my apologies, don't want you to come in the middle of the night and kill me of some sort." Is Sirius getting mad because I flirted with Remus? How...odd? Karen thought to herself.

She turned to Remus and smiled. Then looking back towards Lily and Emmeline, Karen sighed, and whispered. "Did Black just get mad at me for flirting with Lupin?" Trying to be quiet as she possibly could, so Sirius and Remus wouldn't hear her.

Narcissa Black walked down the first floor corridor, her long blonde hair swaying against the back of her Slytherin robes. She looked straight ahead, her crystal blue eyes fixated on where she was going. There were no one in the halls that deserved a second glance from the pureblood witch. She walked, as always with her head held high, that regular smirk plastered on her lips. She hated the filth that they let in this school. The sheer thought of having to share an education with them sickened her to no end.

She entered the Defense against the Dark Arts classroom and saw that quite a few people were here already. None of her kind though. She sighed a bit, she was hoping at least Lucius or Severus would be here already but no, she was stuck in a room with the likes of these people. She took a seat at the back of the classroom and took out her textbook and glanced up at the board. She turned to the chapter on boggarts and sat back in her seat, her eyes glaring at the people around her and waited for someone she deemed worthy to talk to, to arrive.

Andromeda walked down the corridor leading to the defense against the dark arts classroom. Her feet made a light tapping noise against the floor, which seemed to echo in the emptiness of the corridor. She knew she was going to be late, so she didn't worry about hurrying up. She had been in the common room reading and had dozed off and of course no one had woken her up. She had no idea how late to the class she would be and did not really care. Lately she had been feeling in the dumps and being in a classroom with her sister and other slytherins was definitely not going to help.

As she made her way into the classroom her eyes glanced around the room. She saw her sister Cissy and decided it was probley a good idea to sit near her rather than anyone from the other houses. She didn't want to upset her. She took a seat at a table in front of the one Cissy was seated at, Cissy would probley want to sit with Lucius more than Meda. She took out her textbook and turned to the chapter on boggarts. It would be interesting to see what some are most afraid of.

Narcissa turned her head around when she heard someone enter the classroom. A slight smirk graced her red lips. It was Andromeda, or Meda as she called her, her sister. She watched as she took the seat in front of her and opened up her book. Narcissa leaned forward in her chair and grabbed the back of Meda's robes and pulled her gently to get her attention. "Where were you? It's not like you to be this late for class, everything alright?" She studied her sister for a few moments. She had noticed a change in her sister these days, she seemed more withdrawn, more so than usual. Narcissa wanted to break through whatever it was that had bothering her lately. She certainly hoped that her ways were not changing. She didn't seem as passionate about her future with the Dark Lord like herself and Bella were.

"Well I am definitely glad you are here. Being in a room with the likes of these people is enough to make anyone ill with disgust. Have you seen Lucius?"

Andromeda felt a gently pull on the back of her robes. Meda turned towards the pull and smiled at her sister Cissy. "I was reading up on what we had to work on in class today, but I guess I didn't sleep well enough last night so I dozed off. And well of course no one woke me up." Slytherins never were the kind to be nice, but that was expected.

"No I haven't seen Lucius, but I am sure he will be here in a bit." She answered. "So, what's the latest on you to? Finally get together yet or still just being teases?" As far back as she could remember the two knowing each other, Cissy and Lucius have had a thing for each other, both to stubborn to admit it to the other and both loving to tease the other. Meda had witnessed many times Cissy being a tease towards Lucius.

"I have some...things to attend to. Far too busy with N.E.W.T.s you know to worry about a...relationship." He sputtered, looking over at Sirius and giving him a look of "thank Merlin you saved me!" He stood up from his stool and grabbed the other boy by the arm, dragging him back into the corner. "You have to do something Sirius, anything." He almost begged, looking at his mate. "If someone sees, well, you know." He sighed, rubbing at his eyes. "Lily would figure it out for sure and you know it." He looked back at the girls, biting his lower lip. "I'm giving you permission to cause mayhem, please do something." He could already see the smile creep across Sirius' face.

"I have some...things to attend to. Far too busy with N.E.W.T.s you know to worry about a...relationship."

Karen looked at him. "Yeah...I understand." She watched him leave. She turned to Lily. "I don't think Remus is interested." She gaver her a sad grin. Looking back at where Remus and Sirius stood, she saw Remus looking at them. Hmmm I guess I tried to hard. She thought to herself. Yeah...It's time to let go Karen...forget about him. The little voice that always seemed to be right said.

She waited for the instructions from Snellville.

Lily looked at Sirius and Remus with an inquisitive brow. 'What the hell is going on with them?' She asked herself. The two of them were together often and had always gotten along well but lately she was seeing changes in the way they interacted with each other. She shook her head. It was just the closeness they shared being friends. But the more she thought about it, neither of them acted like that with James, or Peter for that matter. The more she listened to them the more she became curious. And then she thought back to the question that James had asked her in potions class earlier. Could they be the ones he was asking about? Get her opinion to see what she thought of the situation?

She noticed the way that Karen was eyeing Remus still and then she heard Remus ask Sirius to cause a distraction. Normally, on any other day if she heard those words uttered from any of the Marauder's lips she would have stopped it before it started, but seeing the situation at hand and if Sirius and Remus were as close as she thought they were, she was going to let him do it. "Wow, what is happening to me?" She asked herself. She had changed more in the last 24 hours than she had in her life, but something about getting a bit closer to James was doing that to her. She then smiled as the though of James filled her mind and she did something that surprised herself, so she knew Remus and Sirius would be even more shocked. She leaned over far in her chair, getting as close to Sirius as she could and whispered to him. "Hey Black, I think you should do what Remus asks you to, I think a distraction is just what this situation needs." She smiled at him and then relaxed herself in her chair and pretended to read her text book.

Who needed to make a distraction when James Potter was around? He had caught word of the Boggart assignment yes, but this was just him being, well, him! There was a loud bang as he entered the classroom, a Fillibuster Firecracker whizzing through the room. "Hope I'm not late!" He winked over at Lily, Remus, and Sirius as he wandered in earing a rather nasty look from the professor.

Mr. Potter! You get over here this instant!"

James simply smiled and lit another one with his wand, rolling it along the floor toward the front as he went. "Coming, Professor!"

Lily watched James enter the classroom and he obviously heard what her and the other Marauders were talking about. They needed a diversion and quick and James, being the crafty wizard that he was wasted no time in perfecting the perfect thing to change the focus in the classroom.

Lily jumped in her chair at the sound of the firecracker going off and she had to cover her mouth quickly to surpress a laugh. She looked to James and saw him wink at her. "Very nice Potter." She smiled and then heard the professor call him to the front of the room. She turned towards Remus and Sirius.

"Funny how I am not jumping all over him for that. What's wrong with me lately." She laughed a bit more and then looked towards James as he made his way to the professor's desk. She saw the look on the professor's face and she was sure he would be given detention. She almost wanted to cause some kind of disruption so that she would get detention too, so she could commend James on a job well done. She thought about this for several moments and decided to see what the professor did to him, then she would make her move if necessary.
