Lily looked up as she saw Marlene enter the Great Hall and a warm smile spread across her lips. "Marley! How are you?" She asked her as she shifter her position so she could see her friend a bit better.

"Did you have a good summer?" She asked her in an inquisitive tone. It was the question that was always asked when someone had seen someone for the forst time after the summer holidays but Lily was definitely interested to see how her summer had gone. If she knew Marley as well as she thought she did, then she definitely had quite an eventful break from Hogwarts.

"We were just discussing flying, the guys behavior, and then were inturupted by the usual Slytherin prats. Poot Pettigrew got chesed in here like a scared cat." She giggled a bit. It was funny in a way but not in others. She took a deep breath and let her eyes wander to James for a moment, the smallest trace of a smile on her face and then she turned back to Marlene. "Potter here has agreed to give me flying lessons. The poor guy has no clue what he's in for." She let out another small giggle and then looked into Marly's eyes, and waited for her to respond.

Marly giggled. "Hmmmmm it was rather eventful.....i discovered how much i love muggle parties. Summer was just one big heeping event," she concluded. She left out the details of anger and complete frustration with herself, the things that made her ashamed. "We went to Paris though, it was really cool. Very fun. Dad and Mom let me and Marsha go off alone a lot, so lots of cute guys were met."

"Aww, poor Peter," Marelene said sympathedically as she possibly could. She saw a little of the humor in the situation, but also saw where the humur came to an abrubt stop. "And Potter, you'd better get ready to have lots of patience with Lily and a broom. The two things don't usually mix."

She giggled and flipped her long hair over her shoulder. "So, Lily, how was your vacation? Full of Petunia complaining i suppose?"

Dorcas Meadowes walked into the Great Hall for the first time since school was let out for the summer. She was a seventh year now and quite happy to only have one more year left of her magical education. She loved the school and would definitely miss it but she had set her focus on her future. She was going to join the Order of the Phoenix after she graduated and then attempt to secure a job with the Ministry as an Auror. Her main goal in life was to put an end to evil. She knew she couldn't do this alone but she would give her all and try like hell to make sure she did all that she could.

She walked past the Slytherin table, taking a quick glance at the students there. She didn't get along with anyone at that table. The only ones that she ever talked to was Andromeda and Severus. Severus more so because they had had so many classes together. Andromeda was one of her best friends, though she had to keep this a secret. She knew that if Narcissa or Bellatrix ever found this out, they would be quite severe to their sister.

She then passed the Gryffindor table where she had many friends. Lily, Marlene, Karen, James, Remus, Sirius and Peter, all great friends of hers and had been in many of her classes in the past six years, she assumed that this year would be no different. Taking a glance over at the Ravenclaw table she didn't see anyone there that she wanted to talk to so she went and sat next to Remus Lupin at the Gryffindor table. She said a quick hello to everyone and then poured herself a glass of pumpking juice from one of the many pitchers of the beverage.
